Leadership in Ethical Practice: Students Learning Outcomes

Abstract Health science students frequently experience ethical dilemmas on clinical placements, yet ethics education rarely prepares with the leadership skills required. The Leadership in Ethical Practice (LEP) program is an resource designed to enhance health students’ knowledge and prepare them for placements future professional practice. This qualitative study aimed: explore nature of goals; determine whether a specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, time-bound (SMART) format was effective tool create identify any changes pre- post-self-ratings following LEP program. Eighty-two diagnostic radiography from University Sydney participated study. Inductive deductive content analysis (Elo & Kyngas, 2008) were used goals. Descriptive statistics investigate post-self-ratings. Four themes emerged goals: initiative, competence, courage reasoning; communicating stories through listening, questioning, connecting; reflecting growing as leader; safe practice person-centred outcomes.
